An Alabama high school principal created a parody video of the 1990 MC Hammer classic “Can’t Touch This” to encourage students to stay healthy at school this year.

Dr. Quentin Lee, principal at Childersburg High School, wrote the rap himself, including lyrics like “COVID! Is stressing me, all the updates from the CDC. Lysol! Can’t be found, I’ve looked all around this town.”

He told Alabama News Center he wrote the lyrics in 15 minutes, then called film director Jaylen Mitchell of City Vizualz to record it. Volunteers included several students, and teacher Jessica Veazey.

The video has garnered nearly 300,000 views since it was posted Tuesday.

In the video, Lee raps and dances around the high school with students and teachers while telling them to put their masks on and to sanitize their hands.

At one point, he dances toward students holding a measuring tape, telling them not to stand so close together. Another time, he appears from behind a vending machine to spray it with Lysol spray while a student tries to purchase a snack.

“Can’t Touch This” isn’t the first humorous video Lee has created about COVID.

In April, he posted a video, introducing it as “a song I wrote that I hope touches your heart” and “that lets you know how I’ve been feeling in this COVID pandemic.” He begins playing music on a keyboard and promptly begins screaming.

Lee has been principal at Childersburg High since 2017, before that serving in other administrative roles in the Talladega County school system, and as band director at Talladega County Central High School.
